At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, competing in the Steeplechase, she gave world champion Dorcus Inzikuru a run for her money before settling for the silver medal. This run increased her profile on the world stage. A week after the Commonwealth Games, she helped Australia to a team bronze medal in the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. After a series of injuries, Hauschildt switched to triathlon. At the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship she took her first world title, winning by six minutes over Karin Thürig. After a 4th-place finish at the 2012 Ironman 70.3 Championship race she would again win the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2013, using a race best run split to win.〔
